Bearing in mind that I live in British Columbia, Canada, a place where it doesn't snow a lot and has predominantly good weather (rains a fair bit though, but the roads are good). RE: Fuel-Efficient Cars by Voldemort on 06-07-2008 at 08:24 PM Used? RE: Fuel-Efficient Cars by joey on 06-07-2008 at 08:32 PM
i couldnt really find anything for that cheap, it would mean loads of searching, which i might do when im not busy but, if you want to save money in the mean time or with your new car try these links. it is common sense, but its often forgotten about and although you may not notice the difference in the short term, it'll help you to save fuel and your car could last longer.. quote:Yep and when I said "fuel-efficient" what I meant was something that is easy on my wallet. Right now, I was kinda considering a Matrix. If you guys have any other suggestions let me know . RE: Fuel-Efficient Cars by prashker on 06-07-2008 at 09:56 PM my generation is the one that's going to make it right, we do it everyday, we do it everynight RE: Fuel-Efficient Cars by andrewdodd13 on 06-07-2008 at 10:47 PM
I dunno what it's like in Canada, but after I spent last week comparing European to American cars, I would recommend getting an import - even if it does mean sitting on the wrong side of the car. RE: Fuel-Efficient Cars by CookieRevised on 06-07-2008 at 11:34 PM
fuel-efficient? Small new (for the european market) cars.... RE: Fuel-Efficient Cars by Voldemort on 06-08-2008 at 01:00 AM
quote:Not many options for that budget.... Actually, a Jetta can give 29-30mpg, which is about the same mileage the Matrix provides RE: Fuel-Efficient Cars by Volv on 06-08-2008 at 05:09 AM A lot of people seem to be getting the Toyota Yaris for fuel efficiency, it doesn't look bad either. quote:Dear God. My dad's 2.2L Vectra gets 41mpg. I believe the Ford Focus gets a decent mileage, dunno what it's like over the pond though. RE: Fuel-Efficient Cars by John Anderton on 06-08-2008 at 12:52 PM

Oh I see. Americans use a different volume for gallon. Bloody typical of them. RE: Fuel-Efficient Cars by John Anderton on 06-08-2008 at 01:52 PM

quote:Any small 4-cylinder engine car by a major Japanese manufacturer, e.g. a Honda Civic. European brand cars generally cost more and break more (at least as far as the selection available in North America), but if you really like one, you can consider it. Do not touch anything from Detroit with a ten foot pole. Pick one you like and can find a good deal on -- the gas mileage for all of them will be about the same and I don't think your budget is enough for a hybrid, even used. Hybrids also haven't been around long enough yet to tell how they hold up with age; a used one could end up very expensive to maintain. A manual transmission is a good idea if you don't have to drive in congested traffic a lot. Depending on how you shift it, you can get either better performance or better gas mileage than an automatic. |
