Tribbium autorun by ch7 on 07-10-2008 at 12:57 PM
hi,
i have installed the tribbum script with is basicly a triva game.
what i would like to do is for it to start automatically when another contact types "!trivia" or somthing similar. and to stop "!stoptrivia"
would like it to also select a set of questions so it would be "!trivia 1" "!trivia 2" etc and for it to load that set of questions and start automatically
is this possible? i want it to act a bit like a bot i suppose
i do also have the answering machine script runnig.
any suggestions would be good.
thanks in advance.
oh and does the other user need Messenger Plus installed or and other options?

note: Other users do not need Tribbium to play tribbium. They don't necessarily need plus! to play tribbium either. An explanation is given on the first page of the help file. =) Refer to it if you need to.
I could program that for you, and it wouldn't take too much effort, but the concern I have is your contacts being a bit malicious and spamming you. But besides that iIve thought about what you've proposed already and I'm really debating between two options.
One of them would be as you say, if someone gave some sort of message, a new game would begin.
The other would be to have something like !trib 1238 where the number would be a code for a certain game, and that would add them into the game, like channels.
Tell me what you think.

not to worried about spamming as i hae got a new account just for this purpose.
but yes if you could make it that would be fantastic.
so to start the game would be !trib and chooses a random .txt file
or !trib [number] for a specfic game. much like what you would get in irc
also a facility to to the trivia quiz ir even stats facility. it would all be good.
i was testing it with a user who does not have plus! or your script installed but what happened is you get some code come up like [c] [c1] etc which im sure would normally say the time in which you answer questions

Just running Tribbium Basic instead of Tribbium Plus! will remove the [c] [/c] tags, but you just won't have multiple colours.
Starting with a random .txt file will probably mean you'll have to designate a folder. So you'd probably have to have a folder set aside just for .txt files with questions, and the program will choose a random one from that folder.
I think you can expect to see an update soon.

will look forward to the update.
you could if possible include a way to sttart the trivia via a text command or the way it currently does it. by ticking a box in the settings. that way you can have the best of both worlds (so to speak)
