Is MSN/WLM login password encrypted? by alegator on 08-11-2008 at 06:31 PM

When you sign in to MSN/WLM you open the IM, enter the username&password and sign in. Is the password transmitted to the Miscrosoft server with encryption or without any protection? If so, is it insecure? Can someone "steal" the password during transmission? Thanks.

User authentication takes place over a Secure Socket Layer(SSL) connection.

True, but if you save your password, it is currently stored as raw text (dodgy Microsoft).

Indeed. However I'd rather have the network encrypted and stored passwords not, than vice-versa.
