[?] WLM 9.0 Beta Not Signing In - Protocol Log Enclosed by Spunky on 09-21-2008 at 01:55 AM

Ok, so I've mentioned in another thread that my copy of WLM 9.0 won't sign in (reporting connection problems). My 8.5 works fine, I have no firewall blocking it and none of the usual stuff that would cause problems.

I used wireshark to look at the messages being sent and received and it does seem as though I'm signed in (auth messages received, user data received, and even a UBX message being sent, which seems to be clearing my personal message)

All I got then are PNGs from the server and replies of QNG.

So it does look as if I'm signed on... Any ideas?

EDIT: I have just tried again and just before it failed i got MP!L update screen (for scripts and skins)... I didn't think MP!L worked at all with new BETA?

Your client does not appear to be sending the ADL command.  The ADL command is what tells the server which contacts you want to be able to talk to.

It might be a good idea to disable any third party addons as they might be fouling something up.

No 3rd party software should be running... Stuffplug is disabled when it can't hook on to the process and MP!L shouldn't be working... I'll have a look around though... Might also see if I can get the offline installation see if that works any better

It's also possible that the contact management process is being blocked from using the internet and so messenger wouldn't be able to get the information required to send the ADL command.

If you have a firewall, make sure that msnmsgr.exe and wlcomm.exe are added to its allow list.
