I check Plus! and install Windows Live Messenger 2008 Ver in English,
the color nickname function work good,
but it wouldnt work in Chinese Ver.
English Ver (Which is work good) Example:

Does it work fine without the skin? It appears to me your using Windows Live Messenger 2009 skin.

I tried to unplug the skin, but it showed same problem.
I guess, Color nickname dont work in Chinese Ver.
Have other languges users tester said the color nickname works ok?
Other then English Version?

Tomorrow, I'll conduct a survey on ptt.cc MSNMessenger board and see if people there have got this problem. (Sure, a majority of ptt'ers would be using a Trad. Chi. Messenger) (It's 4am here and I must go to sleep now 
) My ptt id is purincess.
This seems to be a horrible bug. I have to say sorry I didn't find it when I beta tested Messenger Plus! Live so long...I've been using the English version of Messenger, all along, and only use the Trad. Chinese language file when needed for translation...
In anyway, when things get clear, I'll make Patchou aware of this problem.
Edit: Blah, I decided to po that article now. Just wait...
Edit2: OK, it's done, kaiconan, please tell me if you think that article's got anything inadequate.

Did you test Windows Live Mesenger in Trad. Chi. Ver by yourself?
Coz, I asked 2 other people test their Messenger in 8.5 Ver,
and they didn't see that function either.
I am sure the survey on ptt.cc will shows the "bug",
From now on, I am checking other function works good or not.

I remember this problem has been posted before and Patchou fixed it for 4.23.

You can use /nick, /name (even /nick2) commands and the format panel in conversation windows to easily colorize and format your name. These commands even give more functionality then that Format Button in Options
