How did you discover Messenger Plus!?

Someone on the tek-tips.com forums recommended it when I asked how to remove MSN's banner .

I installed Windows Live Messenger 8.1 back in November and I was seeing some weird codes in my contacts' names. One of them told me that I didn't have the latest version of WLM which was Plus!(she didn't know what it was). Anyway, I searched on Google, found Plus! and installed it and I fell in love with skinning.

Would be other answers if you had asked me how I had found Messenger Plus!.

I asked a friend what the weird codes were in her name because I had a few people (mainly girls tbh) that had them. She told me what it was and I just went to download it expecting it to be full of spyware ¬_¬ lol

The first script I downloaded was Alex's World Cup script. I noticed that scripting seemed quite easy and got stuck in.

I came to the forum a few days later to ask why my interfaces wouldn't work (IIRC it needed to be unicode ). I just haven't left since; I've met too many cool people.

(It's also cool to see that some of the people that had Plus! before me are using my scripts on a regular basis )

I really liked the .exe skin installers, and this forum had a nice thread about for the messenger version 7 skins, and thats why i joined.

Actually, just a little side note:
   The codes I saw in people's names were the IRC style ones... I downloaded MP!L the night it was released (although I had to wait about 10 minutes for it)

Good timing though, eh?

Discovered it when I was trying to install some adware and it turned out that some plugin called MsgPlus was bundled with it.

I dont even remember now... that was almost 6 years ago... I remember When it was 1.42...

I installed msn 7.5 in 2006 and a good friend
showed me Plus!
the first reason at the time because i loved Plus!
was the chance to be able for have the nick
with color
after i tryed the skin (Evo was the first)....
and now messenger without Plus!
isn't messenger

I joined the Messenger Plus boat when my step-dad was looking for add-ons for Windows Messenger Dunno when that was but yeah

I did have plus waay before i ever knew about the forums and most of my contacts did had the codes in there names.

Might have been through Mess.be, but was probably just because some of my contacts had it.

I first discovered Plus! when it was in the start of the 3.xx days, and my friends had it. I then joined the community with horrible spelling and grammar in both French and English hoping to be a translator. Lol, good old days.

I can't remember, but i know that i did use it for a while, then forgot about it, then downloaded it again.... can't remember any of the versions though.

i did use it back in the stage of 3.xx but it was like right before then end of msn7.5 and markee got the beta of 8.0 on our computer so it was mainly 4.00 that i started to use plus... all thanks to markee

My first Plus! was 3.xx (can't remember exactly!) back on the old Windows Messenger 4.7...It was probably back around 2001/2......something like that?  I mainly used the colour codes and chat logging

Didn't join the forums until 2006 when I became a beta tester

And of course I spread the Plus! word as much as possible!

I saw many code in my friend's nickname, I asked him and he sent me the installer(3.xx), and I liked it a lot, but I was on a cyber, so no Internet and no Plus! in my house

My best friend told me about MP! so I started using it. A few days after I got broadband (12 to be precise), I was bored one afternoon and I thought I should check some random site.. went to the MP! site and from there to here.. and I've been here ever since

Oh, let's see... If memory serves, it was my friend Kate who introduced us to one another. When I laid my eyes upon Messenger Plus! it was love at first sight. Forbidden love though it may have been, it was still true love. We ran off to the nether sides of the Internet and eloped. We now have six beautiful children. =D

Googled for "Cool ad-ons for Messenger" and Plus! was the first one in the list.
(Don't know if "to google" exists in English, anyways, it means "to search at google)

I think it was for MSN 6.2...

I found it on Mess way back when everyone and their grandmothers were writing talkers, flooders, and whateverers for MSN. I know for sure I used 1.42b, but I could swear i used 1.20 at one point.

A friend told me about it, I think I started using it in... hmmmm... could be 2003, but I'm not quite sure.

A friend told me in like 2005. Been using it since.
Patch has been doing a great job for a while.

[Will Microsoft ever disable Messenger Plus? If so that would suck.]

Accually, in the FAQ Patchou states that Microsoft know about and tollerate Plus'es existance

I first found out about plus shortly before WLM went into public beta, my freind said "Dave you have to get Messenger Plus it's awesome" at the time, I was between computers because my dad's PC (with windows XP) had blown the motherboard and we needed a new PC, so I was using MSN7.0 on windows 98. I was unaware that it worked on 7.0 because he said "for it to work you need voice clips" and AFAIK 7.0 didn't have them, though i could be wrong, i didn't have a mic then

I installed it when my dad got his new PC 2 days later and since then, I have been encouraging everyone i know to get it, though a freind of mine claims it wrecked his laptop.

and now i use plus! and Stuffplug and beta test Messenger Discovery on my dad's old PC which was refurbed

"Tolerate" is completely different from "they're fine with it."

You might want to consider buying a dictionary.

I'm pretty sure a decent number of the 50 million users of Plus! would stop using WLM if they killed off Plus!
I know I would.

I would stay with the last version supporting Plus! if Microsoft would ban it. I would keep both installers and I would have the ultimate Messenger experience for ever!

Well, I've been working on my own IM.
So far its going great. Going to email patch soon, to see if I could have plus built in.
First got to test it all, check for bugs and what not.
So far no bugs, Just working on interface.

Maybe if patch lets me it could be a Offical Plus IM.
But i doubt it.
