Atlético Madrid - Porto RE: Champions League - Last 16 by Oxy on 12-19-2008 at 06:17 PM
I can see Porto, Barca, Man. U., Liverpool, Chelsea, Villarreal and lisbon winning those. RE: Champions League - Last 16 by Menthix on 12-19-2008 at 06:44 PM

quote: I'll agree with the above. Except for the Barca will win it. Manchester United will win it I think. Playedd rubbish so far this season but the 2nd half of the footy season they always finish strong. Barca have been in good form and there gonna drop of a bit I feel RE: Champions League - Last 16 by RaPLeX on 12-28-2008 at 12:35 PM %50 barca will win it.%50 other teams... Man Utd all the way again this year RE: Champions League - Last 16 by NanoChromatic on 12-28-2008 at 06:59 PM

But why not make a new one when the Last 16 round is over and only 8 teams are left? RE: Champions League - Last 16 by ixesha on 12-29-2008 at 01:13 PM
quote: I almost agree with this list, though I think Lisbon and Roma will have very close games so it's hard to pick them as guaranteed winners. Arsenal do look too young and I don't rate them either (no way they will win the Premiership, for sure) but I wouldn't write them off - they can still have two great nights if Fabregas is fit and on fire. Same applies to Bayern Munich, on the night they could pull it out of the bag. I wouldn't want to call Liverpool as a shoe-in either.. Real Madrid are very capable. But, yeah, I am included to agree with Stigmata. RE: Champions League - Last 16 by Basilis on 03-28-2009 at 04:07 PM
I updated the first post with the draw of the quarter finals RE: Champions League - Last 16 by RaPLeX on 03-28-2009 at 05:57 PM
Villarreal - Arsenal RE: Champions League - Last 16 by djdannyp on 03-29-2009 at 12:04 AM
Villarreal - Arsenal RE: Champions League - Last 16 by Stigmata on 03-29-2009 at 10:00 AM
quote: 5/8, I can live with that It looks like arsenal have had a turn around in the league, but got quite lucky against porto. Tbf, it was a terrible game anyway. Next Round: Villarreal - Arsenal Man. United - Porto Liverpool - Chelsea Barcelona - Bayern When it comes around I'd put deffo bets on the Man U. L + C and V + A could go either way I think. A cheeky bet would be on Bayern winning though. Could make a bit of money off that one. Semis: Man U - Arsenal Barca - Liverpool Final: Liverpool - Man U. Final would make for a cracking game if gerrard and torres are both fit. RE: Champions League - Last 16 by Justin on 04-01-2009 at 12:17 AM
Villarreal - Arsenal RE: Champions League - Last 16 by Eddie on 04-01-2009 at 01:16 AM
Villarreal - Arsenal RE: RE: Champions League - Last 16 by Justin on 04-01-2009 at 10:32 AM
quote: Arsenal haven't lost in 22 matches (with a number of injurys) and are still continuing their run. The majority have been draws yes, but they aren't losing. Fabregas, Eduardo, Adebayor and Walcott have come back from injury and should play in the match. The only problem Arsenal have is that Arshavin is cup-tied, but even without him I don't see Villareal winning. They are still in the Champions League and the FA cup. RE: Champions League - Last 16 by John Anderton on 04-11-2009 at 12:20 PM
Arsenal will take Villareal in the second leg so they'd be through. RE: Champions League - Last 16 by Basilis on 04-30-2009 at 03:50 PM After the first leg, I think Chelsea and Man. United are most likely to progress to the final. RE: Champions League - Semi finals by Eddie on 04-30-2009 at 03:54 PM
quote:I agree with you here, i don't think Chelsea will lose at the bridge, the UCL and FA Cup are our only realistic chances of a trophy this year, so i dont think we will lose it, and i can see us beating United if we reach the final together. Revengeeeeeeeeeeeee. RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by Justin on 05-01-2009 at 11:24 AM I still think Arsenal and Barcelona will go through. Arsenal have played very well at home in the Champions League this year (they haven't conceded a goal). I'm going for a 2-0 win. Barcelona to go through on penalties. RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by John Anderton on 05-02-2009 at 06:42 AM
quote:Ok, I got 3/4 correct Now My guess will be Man Utd and Barca. I hope Chelsea win but I don't see it definitely happening. As for the United game, I think it will probably be a dull/exciting 0-0 or at max 0-1 for United The Barca-Chelsea game will be close. Barca will push with their star studded line up and Chelsea will hold them back.. if Chelsea has to win, it would be either a typical Lampard goal, a counter (which is one of Lampard's things as well) or a set piece ('cause that's Barca's weakness) Hopefully Chelsea won't let Barca "play their game" 'cause that can't be good for no one (except Barca) RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by djdannyp on 05-02-2009 at 08:23 AM
quote: 4/4.....why thank you, lol. I think United have enough of an upper hand to seal the deal now. One goal at the Emirates leaves Arsenal needing 3...though on their day, that could easily happen As for the other game....anything could happen. I'd like Barcelona to edge it...I'm not a fan of same country finals for a number of reasons RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by John Anderton on 05-03-2009 at 12:23 PM
quote:The last Man Utd. vs Chelsea final was fun I remember an AC Milan vs Inter (or was it Juve) final.. it sucked utter balls cause both of them played defensively and cancelled each other out.. 'twas totally boring (just like the Seria A imo ) Last year's finals on the other hand was exciting. EPL has a different kind of game, I agree. Especially if you're used to the (slower?) pace and (flamboyant at times?) style of the SPL. I still think the match was fun despite only 2 goals RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by Basilis on 05-03-2009 at 12:39 PM
quote:It was Milan-Juventus and Milan won the cup with Shevchenko scoring the last penalty and giving Milan a 3-2 win. It was indeed a nasty game. RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by John Anderton on 05-03-2009 at 04:03 PM
quote:Yeah I remember everything about it except it being Juve I saw that match on tele. Just goes to show how much I thought it sucked Anyway, Basilis, predictions for the second leg of the semis? RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by Basilis on 05-03-2009 at 04:05 PM I said some posts before yours that I think Chelsea and Man. Utd will progress. RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by John Anderton on 05-07-2009 at 06:11 PM
Arsenal sucked big time. Big let down. I was expecting a good fight. RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by Eddie on 05-07-2009 at 06:32 PM
Not going to comment on the chelsea semi-final, i was highly unimpressed by the officiating of the match. RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by ixesha on 05-07-2009 at 07:56 PM
I'm going to assume that Thierry Henry will be fit for the final, despite the mysterious nature of his supposed injury. RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by Basilis on 05-07-2009 at 07:58 PM
I was watching the match and the moment I saw Essien not being able to send the ball of the box, I was sure that Barca would score. Unfortunately, they did. Only one shot on goal and they scored. RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by John Anderton on 05-07-2009 at 08:01 PM
I believe Henry was fit last year when we had an extremely boring 0-0 + 1-0 (or was it a 0-1.. don't remember). RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by toddy on 05-09-2009 at 09:45 PM

quote:What can we say, shit happens All part and parcel of the game. Sometimes decisions go your way, some times they don't. But when 4 clear penalty chances in one match don't go your way and you lose on away goals, you have a right to feel that you've been screwed over Gotta move on, I guess quote:I hope it will be good. I don't expect it to be 1-0 to United. 2-0 at max.. either way, I have a feeling it might be kinda boring RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by John Anderton on 05-27-2009 at 06:14 PM
Match is to start in about 40 minutes.. quote: I see a high United winning probability (80% imo). 10% chance of Barca winning it in 90 minutes and 10% it goes to extra time. If it goes to penalties, I have a feeling Barca has a 60-40 to win. United kinda fail at penalties imo United have a good chance of scoring this year (despite the way last year's match went) simply because of the lack of first line defenders in Barca's team for the finals. Time once said that due to Fletcher's absence, United's Defensive Midfield is a tad bit weak and might give rise to more midfield possession (thus match control) for Barca. This might be true.. but I'm sure Ferguson has something planned for it. Also, imo, Central Midfield is where Chelsea dropped off.. they played too defensively allowing Barca to attack.. it almost worked (having 10 men in defence in 2 lines of 5 but its always risky What do you guys think is going to happen? (assuming someone is here before the match ) EDIT: Found a stat here.. United have never lost in European Finals (that's something every United fan knows). But do they also know that every time, United was the "home" team. Hence every time they had their choice of jersey picking Blue, Red, and Red in 1968, 1999 and 2008 respectively. This is the first time they have been drawn as the "away" team hence getting second choice of jersey. Barca is going with their Red/Blue stripe so United is going with White. The last time Barca played a team in White they seems to have drubbed them 6-2 or something (just heard that in an interview). Ferguson replied "We're better than Real Madrid" RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by Basilis on 05-27-2009 at 06:23 PM Barcelona is a better team. They are going to win in my opinion RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by John Anderton on 05-27-2009 at 06:33 PM
These guys have too many breaks in India.. (its a sky sport's modded pre-game show which goes to most of Asia). I'm downloading the match and watching it again like last time if United win RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by Eddie on 05-27-2009 at 07:26 PM
quote:Im definately going for Barca in this game, they may have knocked Chelsea out, but i would love to shove it in the face of my United mates who kept giving me crap. RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by Basilis on 05-27-2009 at 07:42 PM 2nd half is going to begin in a couple of minutes. The score is 1-0 for Barcelona. quote: Iniesta and Xavi ruined United. That was beautiful to watch. For anyone who thinks that Ronaldo is the best player in the world I have two words regarding Lionel Messi: different class. Utterly ruthless, utterly sublime, Barca's midfield were a triumph. I was right. RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by Eddie on 05-28-2009 at 08:22 AM Very happy that Barca won this, unfortunately it means that Chewie isn't going to be retiring any time soon. Ah well, congratulations Barca and Fans. RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by John Anderton on 05-28-2009 at 09:15 AM
quote: Iniesta and Xavi won the match for Barca. Messi was good. This year's world player of the year is probably going to be Messi though honestly, I still think Ronaldo is better He didn't have a great day yesterday and iirc, Messi didn't have great games against Chelsea either. Oh well, congrats to Barca RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by Stigmata on 05-29-2009 at 03:39 PM
balls... RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by djdannyp on 05-29-2009 at 07:08 PM
Really disappointed that United didn't win but it was a real master-class from Barca. RE: .::Champions League 2009::. by John Anderton on 05-30-2009 at 11:46 AM

His performance in the second leg against Bayern was scary..absolutely incredible |
