Vista Recovery. by Chunk1993 on 01-02-2009 at 08:06 PM

I just burned my vista recovery disc, but it didn't work.
The disc image has deleted itself.

Now I have no recovery disc with the drivers etc.

Can I get the image back?

Surely you still have a copy on the pc if you just burned a cd from it? 8-)

Files DO NOT delete themselves, least not disc image files.

Unless you have the source that generated said disc image, no... you can't get it back again without download an (unreliable) file recovery utility.

Your best option is to either download from the Internet, or acquire another copy of the Windows installation disc

It was the Tech Guys recovery DVD for my laptop, it says you can only burn it once. I checked the folder it was in before and now its not there, so I assume it's deleted.

I'm guessing you had to pay for the privilege of using their DVD... You must still have the DVD surely?

Is this an OEM laptop? What brand is it?

On a side note, wow guys, wtf is with the responses... the guy asked for a solution to one problem and you are providing a solution that is something of a last resort...

Yes, it is quite possible it deleted itself. I have an OEM desktop from Compaq, and it came with a recovery partition for Vista. There was an option to burn recovery disks at the expense of removing the recovery data from the partition permanently. I myself just formatted the whole drive an put on XP anyway so it doesn't affect me at all.

Anyway, if you have an OEM PC, I'd recommend looking on the manufacturer's website to look for support options. There may be a place where you can do a mail order for restore CD's at a small fee. Otherwise, you can try to download a Vista disk, and use the serial on the side of your PC case for the install.
