When Messenger Plus plays a sound through a custom notification Windows Vista (64 bit Business, SP1) throws the following error: code: This only happens when playing a sound through a custom notification. Soundless notifications are fine, so are normal MSN sounds. My Live Messenger version is 2008 build 8.5.1302.1018. Plus version is 4.80.0.356. [Edit] Some further research (read: random googling) indicates that this might in fact be something screwed up deep down in the bowels of my Windows. What I would be very interested to know is how Messenger Plus plays those sounds, what calls it makes, what libraries it uses etc etc. If I could get that information I'd be much obliged. [/Edit] RE: Windows: Bad Image - Error at custom notification sound by Patchou on 02-10-2009 at 04:27 AM This does not seem to be a problem caused by Messenger Plus!. It may be one of your DirectX drivers though. To play MP3/WAV files, Plus! uses its own internal libraries but if you play the default sound of Messenger, it's WMA played by the Windows Media Player ActiveX. RE: Windows: Bad Image - Error at custom notification sound by MacGyverNL on 02-10-2009 at 08:17 PM Strangely enough, when I play the sound with Windows Media Player, no error occurs. I'll try a reinstallation of DirectX and see where it takes me. Thanks for the info. RE: Windows: Bad Image - Error at custom notification sound by omegadox on 02-26-2009 at 07:57 PM
Hello I am also getting this problem and I have the latest DirectX SDK and runtime. I never had this problem until I got 4.8.x. It first was working ok, but then one day I started to get this error. I cannot remember if I installed anything new, I haven't changed much before when I first got this error. I wonder if some Windows Update is to blame as I remember one would cause PCSX2 VM to crash on start. I tried Windows Media Player and it works with no problems. |
