Hi all,
I just wanted to suggest a new event for notifications - that the contact sent a message. Often I am online, but I'm not working on the computer. The opened and active conversation window then does not play any sound when a message arrives. I would welcome the ability to do that, so that I can interrupt my book reading or whatever in order to respond to the contact.

(Switching from the conversation window and back all the time is annoying, and so is polling the computer screen )

Are you sure that the volume in your computer is adjusted correctly and not muted? Also, Have you tried re-installing Windows Live Messenger?

Sure. This sounds plays correctly when the window is inactive, and correctly does not play when it is active. I would like to play it even when it is active.
