Hi,

Right now i'm on vacation in the Amazon (South America) and thankfully I found a cyber to get connection to the internet.

I have some questions about Messenger 8.5:

If I install Messenger from MSI files that I have (Messenger.msi and contacts.msi), Messenger will show my contacts normally, or it will prompt me to mandatory update to 2009?

Microsoft will stiil support access to Messenger 8.5 in the near future, or I will have to mandatory upgrade?

If I want to download Messenger from the installer wizard (WLInstall.exe, I have a copy) It will download and install 8.5, or prompt to install 2009?

Somebody can send me a copy of Contacts.msi for using only with 8.5?

The upgrade from 8.5 to 2009 isn't mandatory (yet). Only people using older 2009 build are required to upgrade. Also, I recommend always using the normal installer. Only use the MSI files if you run into problems on the regular installer.

In somre time the upgrade from 8.5 to 2009 will probably be mandantory, But there isn't much official news on that yet.

It should install 8.5.


I prefer 2009. Really like the cleaner interface, plus being able to sign in at multiple locations simultaneously (MPOP) is very useful to me.

Thanks for your answer. I think I will install 8.5 from the normal installer, because I really need fake mobile device feature from Discovery but, if possible, I will install 2009 in the same machine for using with my personal account.
