Are you using any add-ons/patches for Windows Live Messenger? RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by Number 18 on 03-29-2009 at 08:00 AM
yea but they're all diabled I haven't used them for months now RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by djdannyp on 03-29-2009 at 08:57 AM
Are you running many other things along with WLM? RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by Number 18 on 03-29-2009 at 09:11 AM
firefox RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by blessedguy on 03-29-2009 at 01:08 PM
quote:Use Windows XP? I've got some problems with iTunes and WLM, if both were opened at the same time, the whole PC would freeze (and CPU would go to 100). Also with some other programs like Chrome and Full-Screen applications. Try running without firefox and see if gets better =) RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by Number 18 on 03-29-2009 at 01:27 PM
I'm using vista RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by blessedguy on 03-29-2009 at 01:32 PM
quote:Try disabling SuperFetch, disabling it boosted my Vista PC speed, and avoided lots of hick ups... RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by Number 18 on 03-29-2009 at 01:35 PM
whats that? RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by blessedguy on 03-29-2009 at 01:38 PM
quote:Superfetch preloads your "most used" programs in memory, but I guess it never worked since it only preloads Microsoft software I never used (¬¬') Read this to disable =P http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/how-...-on-windows-vista/ RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by Number 18 on 03-29-2009 at 01:39 PM thanks man will see how things go RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by Number 18 on 03-29-2009 at 02:34 PM nope still freezing RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by ShawnZ on 03-29-2009 at 03:12 PM

Does it only freeze when a conversation window is opened? RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by djdannyp on 03-29-2009 at 04:06 PM
quote: quote: RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by Number 18 on 03-29-2009 at 04:11 PM nope RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by Rapid_W on 03-29-2009 at 05:23 PM I am also having this problem. Out of nowhere wlm will freeze and will hog 100% of a core. I thought i had solved the problem a while ago by reinstalling but its started up again and worse than before. I used to have msgplus and a-patch, but i haven't got either once i reinstalled. I have done minor google searches and this is appearing to be a common issue! RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by Number 18 on 03-29-2009 at 06:02 PM well rapid let me know if u ever get it fixed RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by TheSteve on 03-30-2009 at 12:53 AM
Well, for lack of other options, if you want you can try and do this: RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by Rapid_W on 03-30-2009 at 09:43 AM
There is a 00023e60 with EB 36, a 00023fc0, a 00036db0, 00036f00 RE: RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by TheSteve on 03-30-2009 at 09:57 AM
quote: 00023FCA is in the row marked 00023FC0 it should start on the tenth byte on that row (hence why it's got A. 0xA=10) This modifies a function that sends data over a UDP based socket. In my case, for some reason the call to send on the socket was failing with a fatal error message, but messenger treated it like an error that would automatically fix itself by trying to send again. This hex edit changes the code so that it will break out of the loop when it receives a fatal error. If you want to get technical: (if not feel free to skip this part) 0xEB is the machine code that means jump to a close address via offset. This edit just changes the jump destination forward a few bytes. RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by Rapid_W on 03-30-2009 at 03:18 PM ahh ok thanks, while i can convert hex to base10 (or any other for e-penis points), i have no idea about its coding properties RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by James Potter on 03-30-2009 at 04:02 PM TheSteve, the man from Japan, thanks for your Hex code, it fixed a severe issue with my Messenger. <3 RE: RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by TheSteve on 03-31-2009 at 12:10 AM
quote:You're welcome. quote:Yeah, it really is a severe issue, (for those who need to use UDP networking). I have reported the error to Microsoft, and I'm hoping they will fix it for the next release. RE: WLM 2009 wont stop freeeezing by Rapid_W on 04-08-2009 at 11:26 PM Hasn't worled for me. I still get freezes and hogging of one core. Sometimes wlm will be fine and work perfectly, othertimes it won't work at all. ahh well. It appears that your problem is else where then. What you can do is install the "Debugging tools for windows" then follow the instructions in this page to setup Process Explorer to give better stack traces. |
