Bright Typing Area?? by noir on 04-01-2009 at 04:54 PM

Hey.
Im a graphic designer, and...I was forced to update to 9.0. It's not half bad. Though now obviously I cannot use the 8.5 skins any longer. I was using the black background, with light text skin by Willz, for the longest time.

This is my issue. I have light sensitive eyes(pretty bad, wear sunglasses to see Google properly). Now that I have 9.0? I uploaded the Leopard skin, which rocks. But the "Typing Area" within the chat windows themselves is blinding bright white. It's killing my eyes.

There is a skin called "Asiatique Live 2009" I adore the "Faded Typing Area". I have located the code that is used to set the Transparency...

                <Control xsi:type="ComboBoxControl" Id="Convtspt">
                <Position Top="170" Width="80" Left="140"/>
                <Caption>Transparence de la conversation</Caption>
                </Control>

Would it be possible. Just for my own sake. To impliment this code into the Leopard "OptInterfaces" Codes and have it dim the Typing area in it like the "Asiatique Live 2009" has?

Please help. I'm borderlining using Trillian again, because I'm blowing through headache meds.

Or will I have to be forced to take a skinning/.xml crash course, and just make my own? Oh gawds. Please help.

You have to add more than that to make it work (that code is only to see the option in the Options panel), you also need to change some code in the definition and style files, it is pretty easy, just few minutes to find out how to do it, but the author is the one who decides (hope he accepts), good luck (y)

I don't see any legal issue if it's a personal mod which you don't try to pass off as your own skin

Thank you both for the information. Its very appreciated. -lmao-. I don't think changing a simple bkg code in a skin warrant's saying 'hey i made a skin'. -giggles-. people who do that, and distribute it? thats bad.

I am working on my own msn skin. Though it will be at least a few more weeks before i would try to release it.

Yeah... you don't even imagine what people are able to do for some popularity.
Good luck with your skin! =)

White will irradiate all the visible light specter, while darker colors will irradiate only some parts of it... turning down the brightness wouldn't help at all, as the only thing that would change would the the intensity of those rays of light, and no the quantity of them. So yeah, that's why

HERE is one I've been using recently(Vista United Skin 4.00 Beta.) It works with 9.0 and there are 3 skins types included. One of which is mostly black(Y).

xml code:
Conditions(Convtspt= "Desactiver")
It won't work. How can you define an option an not udate it in the skininfo?

Willz has updated Phunk'n, you might try the dark version of that
