This has been a known issue ever since Vista was launched. Windows Vista seems to be incompatible with Analog Devices Inc.'s SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio driver. It installs it in Windows Update, yet barely supports it. When I'm playing a soundtrack, if I pause it, the audio completely vanishes, that is, if I wanted to resume the soundtrack or produce any other audio sound from my computer. Not sure how helpful this is, but you should know the ADI SoundMAX chipsets are essentially unsupported at this point. The latest driver that was published by ADI is about 5 years old. If you are having issues with the Microsoft's bundled driver in Vista, I'd just consider disabling it and getting a sound card of more recent vintage. My netbook has a soundmax card, I dont have any problems with it. You could try using the HP drivers for it if you like. RE: SoundMAX issue in Vista, the usual... by James Potter on 04-10-2009 at 11:22 AM
