Every single time for years and many versions later of Messenger Live Plus, Plus will not let me change or go anywhere (preferences for example), a little pop up with the Plus logo wants a password and I've tried ALL I can think of for years
it says: The preferences of this account have been protected with a password. Please enter the password to continue.
This is my first time here. I just registered. Can someone(s) please help me with this? or I'll finally have to uninstall and I don't want to, but after years of no plus....................ya see what I mean

Open your registry editor (Start > Run > Regedit) and delete
HKCU\Software\Patchou\Messenger Plus! Live\<your_account>\Preferences\PreferencesLockPwd
or clear its binary value, this will disable the protection...
After that, you can access the preferences again, even without restarting MSN Messenger or Messenger Plus!.
But note that you need to go to the preferences again and disable the option to lock the preferences with a password, as this registry key will not delete the internal checkmark remembered by Plus! but only the 'password' that was in place.
Dear Spunky, you sound like you are a very knowlegable computer user which I am not. Thank you and if you ever have the time, could you explain what to do to fix this pretending I am brand new to computers and a 95 year old grandma?

I've now made a little PHP script that allows you to enter your email online and receive the file instantly. It will not be available until later however as I'm at work at the moment
Go to: My Website and enter your email. Then just follow the instructions
