Encoding format of registry key by CuppaCha on 04-27-2009 at 01:36 PM

Hi,

I hope you can help.

I am trying to determine the encoding used on the 'Email' key found in the following location:

.\Patchou\Messenger Plus! Live\<email>\Contacts

Any help would be great

Thanks

Long time ago we've been asking the same question (to Patchou); also how the hash is created which makes the subkeys of \Contacts. But there was never a real answer in public.

Although it is well possible that someone out there knows the encryption method or is able to find out, the main reason why there never was a real answer is security.

Is there a specific reason why you want to know the encoding-method?

Hi, Thanks for the reply,

There  is a reason, and if someone can provide the answer I will be more than happy to contact them via PM with justification. I was basically wondering if it uses the same crypt as WLM or some other detached mechanism specific to Plus!

Thanks

It doesn't use the same encryption key than Messenger and I'm sorry but I just cannot give out this information for security reasons. To manipualte your contact's settings, you need to do a script and Messenger Plus! will take care of the rest.
