I can not access any winks apart from the default winks messenger messenger came with there is no option to get extra winks or fancy wording

1. what version of messenger do u have?
2. is that your new installation of messenger, or an old one?

it did not occur suddenly it has always been so

Can you post a screenshot of what you mean?
It might be worth trying to upgrade to WLM 2009
