80071392 Error & No Contacts. by Andy Lowson on 08-23-2009 at 01:04 PM
Ok, i start up computer, msn auto runs and i log on like normal.
A few minutes later ive got all my convo windows up and close the main window, (the one with the contacts in).
A few minutes later when i reopen it all my contacts have disappeared, and any messages i try to send to my contacts come up with the "Message could not be sent" thing.
I close msn and try rerunning but as soon i click sign in it returns a 80071392 error, also the instances of msn do not close fully, they are still running in task manager.
Im running WLM 2009 and have tried reinstalling it and flushing my dns.
Edit: Also running MsnPlus.
Any help please?
Edit: Im now able to run msn after uninstalling and reinstalling sevral times but as soon as i open a conversation the whole thing locks up, stops responding and closing it leads back to the 80071392 error.
Please help!!!

Start by uninstall Messenger Plus! to make sure that isn't the culprint.
Next, try to enter the following command:
1) make sure all the Messenger processes are closed
Close Messenger and check your Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) for any running Messenger processes. If there are still processes running, kill them
2) click on your Windows Start button
3) Choose "Run"
4) type (without the quotes): "ipconfig /flushdns" and press enter
5) try to restart Messenger and sign in.
If you still experience errors after that, you should report them to Windows Live Support:
