I just made some changes to the board's post-count-based user titles because the old settings weren't really appropriate for a board of this size, and there were too many "Posting Freaks", which is kind of derogatory. RE: [DRAFT - TO MOVE] User title changes by Mnjul on 12-17-2009 at 07:33 PM
I like it RE: User title changes by Joa on 12-17-2009 at 08:25 PM

"Executive decision" FTW quote:and encourage my godlike feelings even more? Immortal Member (5000+ 5stars) is good enough (5000 because that's the next 'goal' for many 'posting freaks') brainfart: and "Elite" could go before or after the new user titles; Full Elite Member (eg: wtbw), Senior Elite Member, Veteran Elite Member, Immortal Elite Member... and/or or change to and use the gold ones for mods, elites, etc... [/img] ------------ PS: Now an update of User titles/stars is in order... RE: User title changes by John Anderton on 12-18-2009 at 04:13 PM

I personally think that "Posting Freak" title is appropriate if it is assigned to members according to their time rate of postings (not spammings ). For example if a member posts >X posts in a week, his/her title changes to it (his/her posts count is already always visible in his/her posts). Otherwise regular titles will be used. RE: User title changes by John Anderton on 12-31-2009 at 11:19 PM
quote:That'd be nice. Tbh I think we need an overhaul on the star system. Cookie's idea of using blueish stars for elites seemed nice. Note to DZ: Stop being lazy and update the User titles/stars thread already And while you're at it, make a better star structure (like adding coloured stars for staff-ish people) RE: User title changes by Naruteitor on 01-01-2010 at 03:42 AM
lol posting freak changed to Veteran member RE: User title changes by user27089 on 01-01-2010 at 12:25 PM
The changes are good though it makes the site seem more formal. RE: User title changes by John Anderton on 01-01-2010 at 05:15 PM
quote:Agreed. Veteran does seem a bit heavy. The change of post counts for titles was needed. Don't see why the titles had to be updated RE: User title changes by azn angel on 01-02-2010 at 06:44 AM
I don't think Veteran is correct. A veteran member implies that they have been here for a long time. RE: User title changes by user27089 on 01-03-2010 at 01:06 AM
quote: quote:Precisely, if anything there should've just been an addition to the post ranks, a sixth star and a new title. People are now exceeding the threshold by a lot. I've had over 5000 posts for 2 years now and Cookie is just... There should be a title just for him. RE: User title changes by Menthix on 01-03-2010 at 01:25 AM
quote:Please, no. So a mod would have 7 stars and an admin 8? Another title would be ok, but why the staars. IMO, remove stars completely, or at least replace them with something more subtle. Stars are taking up so much space, I hate it when the lift panel is bigger than my actual post . EDIT: Fuck, and this one is too shorter than the stuff on the left too. EDIT2: There, I fixed it! RE: User title changes by user27089 on 01-03-2010 at 01:28 AM
quote:Haha. I agree with the star removal. There's no point in it. You've already got a title . RE: User title changes by Menthix on 01-03-2010 at 01:35 AM
quote:So do you, and a much nicer sounding one than my, so stop obsessing over that. RE: User title changes by user27089 on 01-03-2010 at 01:38 AM
quote:Haha, I think you misunderstood my comment. I was using the colloquial term 'you', as in: quote:So if we (<Tucker>royal we</Tucker>) have titles, we don't need stars. They're a waste of bandwidth . HUZZAH RE: User title changes by Menthix on 01-03-2010 at 01:40 AM Ah. Fair enough. RE: User title changes by WDZ on 01-03-2010 at 05:18 AM
quote:I totally agree, but the problem is that the titles are assigned based on very simple rules (just post count). Maybe there's some way registration date could be factored in, but I wouldn't want to make it too complicated. I don't think a system (or even a set of titles) exists that would be perfect and make everyone happy. In the shoutbox I posted some ideas for titles found on other forums, but most of them suck: shout 80790, shout 61908 RE: User title changes by Basilis on 01-03-2010 at 09:23 AM Veteran Member is better than Posting freak. Nice change RE: User title changes by Thor on 01-03-2010 at 09:41 AM
quote: On a more serious note, I personally feel that you're totally correct and if anything it would've been nice if the titles were more accurate, though "Veteran member" sure sounds way nicer than "Posting freak". Also, I'd love to see the stars disappear. Seriously. RE: User title changes by Fanta on 01-12-2010 at 06:08 AM
Regardless I don't really care what it says, i somewhat dislike "full member" It just doesn't seem to fit at all, never has. I'd prefer just "member" instead. What exactly is the "full" part supposed to mean? RE: User title changes by Chrono on 01-12-2010 at 06:46 AM
quote:full as in "now you have access to all the features" (you cant give reps unless you're a full member ) |
