Can't create encryption password by Gurpe on 12-24-2009 at 10:46 PM
Hi all. I'm using Msg Plus! for so many years and never had a problem I couldn't solve coming here or reading any help in the webpage, but the issue I'm having right now slips out of my hands.
I go to the encrpytation menu and I tick "Protect with password", then I leave it at 640 bits and put a password with his respectively clue. Next step: apply. After that, a popup asking for the password again and when I go ahead it appears the next message (I've translate it cause I have Msg Plus! in spanish):
"We're sorry, but the encrypted password could not be generated in this computer".

Software information:
WLM version 2009 (14.0.8089.726) in spanish
MP!L version 4.83.0.376 in spanish
O/S Windows 7 Professional x64 in english
So I'm here half to report a bug and half to ask if someone has the answer for this or had the same problem.
PS.: I've read in a spanish forum a reply from Kafman, an official tester, posted in November and installed that API from Microsoft: http://foro.msgpluslive.es/showthread.php?tid=13496

It's the same thing Kafman says in the thread I copied. Didn't work neither.

Gurpe, did you follow each and every step in that KB article from Microsoft? And did you checked after each step if something resolved the issue?

Gurpe, we know it is the same, but you did not answer the question in detail.

It is as good as impossible that you didn't
A) fixed the issue with one of those steps
or
B) got any more errors or notifications while following all those KB steps!
So there is a good chance you didn't followed those steps properly. Can you try them again and post the output (messages/errors) and result for _each_ step? Also remember to reboot after each step.

So you want me to touch every corner of my Windows to solve a problem of your program when all of the installed programs run perfectly? =\
I mean, you're trying to make me modify things I don't understand what they do in my Windows. Method 1 thru 5 are understandable, but the others... =\
Explain me the other methods and maybe I'll consider doing them, otherwise I'll still looking for another answer, maybe a Msg Plus! update which solves this issue with Win7 x64 (cause as I've seen it only happens with this OS) or leave my logs without password...

Gurpe, I understand your feeling, but this isn't a problem with the program, but a problem with your computer/OS. This is explained in that KB article.
Messenger Plus! uses the standard CryptoGraphic components which should be present on your OS. But for some reason are not installed properly, are missing, are corrupted, or you do not have the permission to use them on your Windows account, or your Windows OS is not installed properly or up-to-date.
