I've came back to this forum after a long time to start posting any time I can when I'm bored and I've noticed a recent trend. Threads have been getting locked without warning and without any notice. I'm aware that this forum isn't controlled by the members, so we have little say, but it just seems like courtesy to give a reason or even give a warning telling people to get back on topic. RE: Under Lock and Key? by Chrissy on 01-10-2010 at 06:24 PM
When i left then came back (wilfully for once) most of the normal members were gone. RE: Under Lock and Key? by Chris4 on 01-10-2010 at 06:49 PM I can't even create a simple discussion without it getting out of control and locked... RE: Under Lock and Key? by user27089 on 01-10-2010 at 06:56 PM

None of this is new, and none of this will change. Deal with it. RE: Under Lock and Key? by user27089 on 01-10-2010 at 07:38 PM
I think you misunderstand what I'm saying and have said exactly what I mean. RE: Under Lock and Key? by prashker on 01-10-2010 at 07:41 PM
HAHAHAHAH DISREGARD THAT, I SUCK COCKS. RE: Under Lock and Key? by user27089 on 01-10-2010 at 07:46 PM
quote: quote:That would be fair enough if there was that sort of attitude. But a thread like Chris4's was locked when the discussion was interesting. Why not just split it like they normally do or delete individual posts? RE: Under Lock and Key? by toddy on 01-10-2010 at 07:55 PM get yourself in the shoutbox, DZ is to lazy to mod it RE: Under Lock and Key? by MeEtc on 01-10-2010 at 07:55 PM My thoughts? Too much drama. This is the internet, deal with it. We are not your mommy or counselor. This supposed to be a software support forum after all RE: Under Lock and Key? by Chrono on 01-10-2010 at 08:17 PM
quote:You said it yourself: you've just came back and dont know what's going on. Meanwhile, the people who've been visiting the forums in the past few months do know that pretty much every single post from discrate turns into a race war against other members like cookierevised . We're tired of it, end of story. Oh and that thread's been moderated a lot, i can see why a mod eventually closed it, it gets stupid sometimes . You're judging us when you dont have all the information you need to do so RE: Under Lock and Key? by toddy on 01-10-2010 at 08:32 PM

quote:how so? RE: Under Lock and Key? by azn angel on 01-10-2010 at 10:58 PM To be honest Traxor, these forums aren't anything like they used to be. In the good old days you and James were the "class clowns" these days you're one of the more mature members. But everything changes, people move on and these forums are no exception. Yes it sucks that 99% of the awesome members are gone, but unless we have some sort of IRC reunion there really isn't much we can do about it. I guess you just have to hang around more and get a feel of the place now. RE: Under Lock and Key? by Spunky on 01-10-2010 at 10:58 PM
quote: Maybe the mods should comment on why things are deleted/split/edited so we get the idea? Possibly even warn the offender in public to discourage it happening again? RE: Under Lock and Key? by Chrono on 01-10-2010 at 11:06 PM
quote: How could we let you know? by posting a reply? Like "hey i just deleted xxxx's posts because of xxxx reason"? Seems kinda silly to me as there are a lot of deleted posts in a single day, and most of them are deleted cause of an obvious reason. Seriously, if we posted the reasons of why are we moderating stuff, threads would go even more offtopic And what if we deleted a thread? we'd have to post a new thread about why we deleted it, which defeats the purpose. Also, you don't really need to know what's going on behind the scenes, that's the staff's job When we split and/or edit, most of the time we do give a reason so no comments on that one RE: Under Lock and Key? by Spunky on 01-10-2010 at 11:13 PM
Something as simple as other boards, where we have a little insert saying "Post Deleted" (possibly with a reason...) would make things a lot less confusing. RE: Under Lock and Key? by Chrono on 01-10-2010 at 11:18 PM
quote:Well you can always send us a pm or soemthing if you really dont know what happened . About the little feature you're talking about, you'd have to ask wdz quote:yeah, i guess we can do that, even though the "question answered" reason is way too obvious . i'll start doing it again, i hope other mods get to read this RE: Under Lock and Key? by Spunky on 01-10-2010 at 11:19 PM
Case closed... RE: Under Lock and Key? by Lou on 01-10-2010 at 11:36 PM
quote:See? People can't stfu and learn the difference between serious posts/threads and not serious posts/threads. Do like others and self-split if you really have something stupid that can't go unsaid. I don't mean to be a dick, but you could at least show some respect to those trying to have a serious discussion. There's a place for that, and it's not here. Go to TnT. I do agree that giving reasons, at least to those involved, is nicer. I also think splitting where appropriate rather than locking is good. It allows the discussion to continue without the conflicts. And hell, the banhammer was used more often before and there was much less conflict and a more tight-nit community. IMHO. RE: Under Lock and Key? by WDZ on 01-11-2010 at 12:03 AM
quote:I considered splitting that thread and locking the [split] thread, but basically everyone who replied was just laughing at the statistics and saying how wrong they were, so I doubted the thread would go anywhere if it stayed open. I'd be happy to split it and re-open it if you want to continue the discussion (just PM me or report the first post), but I'm not sure where to split it. The Australian violence sidetrack started at this post IMO, but that post is actually on-topic. Often I don't bother posting a reason for closing a thread because I think it's kinda obvious to anyone who reads the whole thread... that thread clearly devolved into an off-topic and mean-spirited back-and-forth, and the last post by Adeptus seemed like a good note to end it on.
