I have WLM (@live.com) & yesterday everything was working just fine 'till I logged on right now.
Some of my contacts are online & I see them as if they were offline.
I can NOT send nudges. It's greyed out in the "taskbar" in the conversation box.
I can not send a Video Call it says it's not compatible with the persons MSN because they are using a version that does NOT support this feautre!
I have tried doing a system restore, logged out, logged in

What version are you using?
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling?

I'm having problems too right now.
I would say, just bear with it for now. Microsoft (just pure unreasoned speculation) might be updating servers for the upcoming WLM 2010 and are making changes (and/or oopses).

In case it hasn't been made obvious already, appears to be a worldwide issue. My Facebook is on the fritz about this issue

I don't either but both of my friends I'm talking to now have no online contacts, and my Windows Live Messenger app on my Facebook profile sees me as being offline. It seems whoever is online is appearing as offline, so technically they're communicating through offline messaging.

It's a global problem. Had at least 7 people on the Dutch forum this morning reporting the same problem.
Trekie posted a little info about it too: Messenger servers showing contacts as offline.

Is it known why only certain people are affected? Everyone I'm talking to is affected yet I'm not, which I find quite bizarre.

It can depend on any number of factors. It's best not to worry about it and to just wait for the issue to be resolved, I'm sure that the Messenger team are well aware of the problem and on the way to solving it.

I'm not worried, I was just curious, that's all . Frankly I feel special for having avoided being affected by the problem!

The Windows Live Team are aware of the problem and are on the way to fixing it

knowing that they are aware of the problem and are dealing with it, has relieved my mind abit, started to think my 3month old lappy was on the fritz again
