Last night I have had a chat with one of my contacts on MSN live (version 2009) and laptop went to sleep after I went to bed. I got up logged on and found out I cant see any of my contacts online but confirmed that they are online by phone. Contacts are there but they cant see me online and I can;t see them online either apart from one. This is very weird and normally msn is so reliable. I have checked all the connections and nothing seems to be wrong. HELP!!!!!!

Messenger does appear to be experiencing some problems at the moment, I'm having the same issue.  It's possibly related to the forthcoming upgrade of Messenger, as testing a new version/protocol often results in instabilities with the existing one

Thx mate I thought I was the only one. It seems very daft though as I can see the last contact I sent instant messages only!!!!!!And noone else in the whole world is online!!!! I have Teamviewer so dialled into home pc overseas and everything seems to be fine as well with connection. Is this only a problem in the UK? What doi u reckon?

I honestly couldn't say, it's just one of those things you'll have to bear with until it's sorted

but if you sign onto a webmessenger people can see you as online

my boyfriend and i were also having the same issue last night.  we both upgraded to the live plus and everything was fine and then all of a sudden he appeared offline and he said i did too.  my daughter checked her MSN account and said we both appeared offline.  we both love the look of the new version, just hoping it will be resolved soon.

This issue is nothing to do with Messenger Plus! Live.  It's a problem with Windows Live Messenger servers:
