Msn/Hotmail virus by nao_shines on 04-13-2010 at 02:22 AM

I've had this for a while and I can't get rid of it.

I keep getting invites from msn contacts that I don't know, and everyone on my contact list receives spam e-mails from me.
I have tried 3 different anti virus programs including the full version of Spyware doctor and it's still there...How do I get rid of this?

Format your pc. Easiest way to do this is using the restore cd if one came with your pc, or install windows manually. Just be aware this will delete every file on the pc, so backup any files like documents and picures you want to keep extrnally like on a cd. After the pc is re-installed make sure you get all the updates from Windows Update. After that, change your password/question again.

Also be careful where you login. Any other PC you use to login could possibly be infected too, especially when you are not the only person to use the machine you can never be sure if it is clean of viruses and keyloggers. Never enter your Messenger password on websites either no matter what they claim to be. Many of the Messenger related sites which ask you to login like webmessengers, blockcheckers and things which sound too good to be true are actually scams to steal your passwords.

The only foolproof way of getting rid of a virus is to go through "all that trouble".  If you put your mind to it then it can be done in just a few hours.

You've already taken all of the other steps suggested, so to ensure that the infection goes you'll have to reformat
