hi - i was set my password up for chat log password protect but now i can't remember the password as i set it and i do want to reset the password on Messenger Plus

do anyone know how to reset it or take the password off in any way ?

You won't be able to read the encrypted logs as long as you don't know the password. There is not trick or secret way to take the password off or reset it on an already encrypted file. You can however go in the Plus! preferences and change the password for any newly created logs so you can at least access any new logs.

i did try as you say but still ask me for the password to continue and i did try uninstall Messenger Plus as i thought it might help which is not help to remove the password away

It will only use the new password for new logs (files created after you changed the setting).....if you can't remember the password for the logs you already have then there is no way to access them

It is probably still writing to the old log file. Try restarting Messenger. If that doesn't help, close Messenger, manually delete the old logs files you can't access (or move them somewhere else in case you ever recall the password), start Messenger and set your new password again before starting any conversation.

open messager
still ask for the password

It will ask you to confirm the new password, but it shouldn't be asking you for the old one. You could also just uncheck 'protect my chat logs with a password' completely.

now i fixed it by myself and did remove the password back to normal


i do hope program team of Messenger Plus build or make a reset key in the future
or reset key(or uninstall) to original default of Messenger Plus (sure might need to do more work)(*which i meant uninstall it self it should work which isn't) as i really can't see one in it (*which i mean if in the future will find the way to make it happen and myself would love to help for that too as i try it on myself)
as this tools are already pretty good of itself

Having a reset feature would defeat the object of being able to encrypt logs, as it could be used just as easily by someone else as it could by the person who forgot the password...thus rendering the logs insecure.....so you might as well not encrypt them in the first place if there's such an easy way around it
