Attempting to log in causes messenger to close down. by Bone-Candy on 01-12-2011 at 02:58 PM
Hi. I'm new here. I don't usually use forums, but I really need some help.
I've installed Windows Live Messenger 2009, because I prefer it to the new one. But whenever I attempt to sign in, a window pops up saying 'Windows Live Messenger has stopped working' and it closes down. When I clicked problem details it said this:
Problem Event Name: BEX

I'm using Vista, and all the other programs work fine so I don't think it's a virus of some sort. I'm a bit useless at computers so any help is really appreciated.

Have you tried re-installing. I recently had similar trouble (same event name) with a Steam game (TF2) and a re-install didn't work, I had to re-name the folder (probably due to how steam works). A re-install should fix this.
My problem was on Windows 7 though, not Vista
