Windows XP Home machine, fully patched to this date [SP3 and updates], Msgr+ 5.03 installed, no errors, POP3 mail counts are being read incorrectly. The total number of messages are being reported, not the new, or unread messages. Mail client used is Windows Live Mail.
POP3 accounts message count were being reported correctly by log-in screen, but since Msgr+ was installed, those counts (which I read are updated by Msgr+) are now incorrect as well.

This is not a bug in Plus! but a problem with your email hosting not following the POP3 standard completely. Plus! simply returns what it gets. So if the server of your email reports the wrong number, Plus! can't do anything about it.

I suggest you disable the POP3 checking by Plus!, especially since the checking for @hotmail and @live mails and the likes is already build-in in Messenger.

Did you read the original completely? It does not seem so.
So, once again, the mail counts were correct before installing plus. Now, after an installation with no reported errors, the number of messages in the account, BOTH READ AND UNREAD, in other words, all that exist with that address, are what is being reported as UNREAD.
This was not occurring prior to the installation of Messenger Plus 5.03.
To further explain, I have read your other messages, and none of the accounts are with Google that are being reported - I will, however, try to use the other tips, though they will only partially ameliorate the problem.

Yup, I did read and understood the post completely!
As I said, Plus! returns what it gets, no more no less! So if the wrong number is given by the mailserver than Plus! will show the wrong number, simple as that. This is not the fault of Plus!.
The Google-post talks about Google Mail but applies to many, and I mean realy many, similar mail services which are not 100% conform the POP3 protocol. This does include Windows Live Mail. And as such is an explanation of why it happens.
