NOD32 shows Plus 5.10 as virus too (source). One in 36 (source) is not a major problem RE: Messenger Plus! for Skype by Chrissy on 01-29-2012 at 11:16 PM NOD32 is a perfectly acceptable Anti-Virus to use. RE: Messenger Plus! for Skype by Spunky on 01-30-2012 at 12:18 AM
quote: Acceptable is not good. A good antivirus wouldn't just label something malicious and would take time to investigate. While this isn't as common, it is still possible to say no antivirus is good. When 2.7% is a lone, single minority then someone has to call shenanigans RE: Messenger Plus! for Skype by Menthix on 01-30-2012 at 01:38 AM
Eset actually doesn't label Plus! as a virus or even malware in general, they use the term potentially unwanted. Scanning for potentially unwanted items is optional and set during setup. VNC-like services have been among the same category too. RE: Messenger Plus! for Skype by Chrissy on 01-30-2012 at 04:16 PM Of course, NOD32 being the first anti-virus to falsely identifiy a program as a virus. When the results of these tests are shared with other AV programs, this is how a reputation spreads. One user sees it as a virus, tells another, they flag it their AV. RE: [split] Messenger Plus! for Skype by Chrissy on 01-30-2012 at 07:07 PM I see. I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. RE: [split] Messenger Plus! for Skype by Nathalie on 02-01-2012 at 04:10 PM We're looking into this. Thanks guys. |
