while in the shoutbox i left the [b][/b] open  (didn't use [/b] at all), and after I noticed that the [edit] was bold, i tried it with all of the other tags, and, if you leave [i], [b] or [s] open, then it edits the [edit].

it does? It's your fault you don't close the tag like you should and you are the only one who will see that edit button. So it really doesn't bother us .
