How about IRC formatted chat windows? (as an option, preferably with custom formatting) so instead of;

Annoyingly long lame screename with gimpy song lyric says:
lo
(*!!!)) I R KEWL ))(!!
lo

You have;

<Bob> lo
<Tom> lo

Use custom names for the nicks, and have screen names displayed on the To: line.

With custom formatting for time/style of nick (e.g. |Bob|, (Bob), :Bob:, etc..) would be quite a cool feature

Anyway.. back to schoolwork

You can use custom names to get
   Bob says:
      lo
   Tom says:
      lo
Just enable the appropriate Custom Names option.

I think this could well be a new extra "feature"...

Patchou could add a new menu, which has a list of all your favourite chat programs and their window format.

Also, he could add the ability for Plug-in developers to create their own and add them in their plug-ins!

Also, added on to that, you can use the Plus color codes to white out the says, so all you'll have is:

   Bob
      lo
   Tom
      lo

there was a thread about this. matty posted the msglang.dll file to do it. search the forums

Open msgslang.dll in PE Explorer (or similar), and change String Resource 2030 (group 127) from "%1 says:" to "<%1>". Then, the output will be:
    <Bob>
        lo
    <Tom>
        lo

Messenger 7
Same file, same String Resource, same method.

could possibly be done with a plugin, but it would have to be one that mods resources in memory like spng or wtbwplug or whatever.

It essentially is possible with Custom Names and the SPNG timestamp feature.  I don't know how realistic it will look though.

If you really what IRC msn perhaps you should use the Messenger Script for MIRC
