Lydia, you appear to have misunderstood something: there is no need for you to PM an admin. That text was directed at MR wazza, who wanted to change his username. It had nothing to do with the problem.
As for your problem, the error code seems to stand for 'temporary network problem'. It might go away on its own, especially if there's nothing you did that could've caused this. You could try to install MSN Messenger 6.2 (stable release) to see if the problem goes away.
I get a different number, but the same result. Can't log in. I'll try with 6.2.
Edit: I'm having other (more important) problems on the PC (that have nothing to do with MSNM). So it might take a while for me to post the 6.2 result.
Re-Edit: So, after fighting with my PC, I decided to try again with MSNM7, before installing MSNM6, and I could log in
