Well i've used msgplus! for a long time and today i was gonna download it again to install it on my new pc; when i opened the simtel mirror 5 pop ups appeared that was annoying. But i'm not complaining i wanna help so i want to know how to tell patchou to add a mirror i will host.

I don't think Patchou will because he has to keep all his mirrors trustworthy. No offense but you might start out hosting a msgplus! mirror and then suddenly change it to some freaky porn thing.

Edit: And the ads aren't from his mirror, they're to help Patchou by giving him that little bit of extra money whenever ppl download plus!.

why in the world would i change the mirror for porn ? well it's just an offer. i'm offering tu host a mirror if u don't likle my idea it's ok.

Um, I wasn't saying that's what you would change it to, it was just an example of 1 thing that could get him in big shit. Either way, you could change it to something that isn't Messenger Plus! bcz you have the ability to change what's on your webspace and/or server. Patchou MIGHT MIGHT allow one of his trusted members to host it (but that's doubtful) but it's even less likely that a newbie with 2 posts will get this chance.

The simtel mirror list is a completely third-party list.  Patchou doesn't get any of the money, just less bandwidth to the main download site.

Anyway, I'm sure if someone put forward a better alternative (bring back sock's mirror list!) that it would be considered, but as blade says, better does include reliability.  If you were a long-standing trusted member the offer might be more likely to be taken up

I really don't see any need for more mirrors... The main link is already extremely reliable, and the many Simtel ones are more than enough for mere backup.

Things are different now than at those old times Patchou had to put the setup file on his ISP's servers. The sponsor company cannot complain about bandwidth costs, it actually prefers more downloads. Besides, has anyone had any problems downloading Plus! recently?

Ah, I clearly misunderstood.  I thought Simtel had been hosting a list of third-party mirrors, not that they controlled them all.  Yeah, considering I've never known a time when I needed to use them, Simtel is more than alright

Still, sock.demon.co.il had no ads

I find the MsgPlus site download link works fine i'v never ran into the link not being able to download I odn't even see why the would have Mirror.
