Why must that avatar be so big? It takes a whole screen, while his post is actually 3 lines long. With a normal sized avatar at least 1 more post could've fitted in the screen...

Time for admins to put restrictions on avatars too, just like with the signatures? Width is logical (it should not mess up the page layout) but height...there aren't restrictions for that right now, or are there?

The maximum size of avatars is about 150x150 pixels. That means height is limited too. The rules say that large dimensions for avatars are not allowed because they can affect the layout of forum pages.
