No, I don't think so...isn't the connection reestablished when you type a message, send a nudge or reopen the conversation window ?
So, if you reopen the conversation window every 9 minutes doesn't this avoid the connection to be lost ?

sure, but that would just kill the server. the reason a timeout was added is just to not kill the MS servers.

When I try activate "Message when user closes window" but when I click OK it comes up saying "Could not find place needed for window closed notifier, Closed Notifier will now be disabled"

im pretty sure it says cannot find offset.

As far as i know it only happens when you try to sign in on Windows messenger. or are already signed into WM.

try exiting the Windows Messenger client. and sign in on the MSN client then activate the funciton you want.

I dont have Windows Messenger, and no, it says what I posted.
