Hi,

I have installed the new version of Messenger Plus. However, once I try to begin a conversion it close the whole MSN messenger 7

My MSN Messenger version is 7.0.0813
And Messenger Plus 3.52

look at your firewall maybe the firewall don't let you to start a conversasion

this could be a problem with the handwriting plugin

if it exists, delete C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\Plugins\MSNhandwriting.dll

red text is the directory you installed messenger plus in

I have this same problem, but I don't have the handwriting plugin installed...

I think it isn't the Hand writing plugIns :/
It is the new version of MSN Messneger. I have the latest version of MSN Messenger in my laptop .. and the first version of MSN Messenger 7 in my PC .. the problem is in the laptop and i'm using the Plus in my PC :/

Have you made sure the laptop is free from adware/spyware/viruses/trojans?
Are you running any skins/patches/add-ons?
Is Windows fully up to date?

If the answer to all the above is 'Yes', then try a clean reinstall:
- Uninstall
- Remove C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\
- Reboot
- Redownload the installer (without download managers)
- Install

I'm having the same problem. I have no plugins loaded to Messenger Plus and my firewall settings are fine. I can't sign in at all. I was able to sign in ONCE the first time I launched messenger after the setup. No luck since.

Any advice, information would be appreciated.

What error message do you get now?
Try disabling all other types of connections that you allow MSN Messenger to connect through.

Tools > Options > Connection > Advanced Settings >

Uncheck all but the TCP connection and retry.

I unchecked the other connection type settings and tried to connect again. Nothing. I even ran the Test Connection Settings options and was told the problem *may be* my Zone Alarm settings.

I removed the messenger entries and launched messenger again. Still no connection.

NOTE: I uninstalled Messenger Plus and MSN Messenger 7.0 [build 7.0.09813] and ran RegCleaner to remove all of the old entries. I then reinstalled only MSN Messenger and tried to connect again. The problem is MSN Messenger and NOT Messenger Plus.

I'm going to see if I can find a workaround for this crappy version of MSN Messenger. I'll be sure to share what I find out (if anything).

UPDATE: Here's the ticket. If ANYONE is using Zone Alarm with Web Filtering, you need to TURN OFF the web filtering option. Zone Alarm settings ARE the culprit.

Installation of MSN Messenger 7 and Messenger Plus IS SUCCESSFUL!!!
