I've downloaded a video file (avi) and i can hear it great, but not watch it, WMP says i need somethin called a codec. ive heard of them but i dont know where to get them, or witch one in particuklar. can any1 help?

if you download GSpot and open the AVI with it, it will tell you which codecs you need to play the file

Doesnt matter about getting it now, it was called xvid so ive got xvid core but i dont how to install it. theres a 8KB tthing called install, but i dont have a program to install it with weird

Edit: I decided to get XVID from somwere else, and that installed fine. its workin sound now, thnx lad

just download a codec pack..
there are various codec packs
Nero Codec Pack
K-Lite Codec pack

Don't download a coded pack. They just bloat up your system, and add codecs to handle files that you probably already could play. Many of them also contain more than just the codecs.

Remember that you can have XVID act as a generic codec for other similar video types as well, so now that you have it, you may not need some other codecs.
