Windows Version: Windows XP, 5.01.2600
Windows Media Player Version: 9.0

What I was wondering is, if anyone knew how to get subtitles to work in windows media player. I got Advent Children in japensse and its got the english subtitle file with it. But im not sure how to use the subtitles.?I've tried clicking Captions/Subtitles and Click On and also On if prestend(or something like that) but neither seemed to show the subtitles. And was wondering if anyone had any idea how to get them to work.

Try to update the player to version 10.

Are you sure that the DVD you bought is original?

You have to select
Play -> Audio And Subtitles -> On if available

The should appear... if not try right clicking the video and in the submenu select subtitles-> english

If still you can't see the movie i suggest to download a codec pack from http://www.free-codecs.com and i recommend XP Codec Pack, that's the one I'm, using right now and could see Advent Children in WMP and Winamp. This is because you need DirectVobSub, a program that implement subtitles to movies in realtime from another file and is included in the pack, along with lot of other useful codecs (Y)

down load VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

put the subtittle file in the same folder as the video file (Advent Children Avi :P) and open VLC and load it on. Then go to subtitles and select Subtitle 1 and it should work flawless. I did that because i go the same thing. If you need any other info pm me or post here.
