Scan your computer for adware and spyware ect.

Also try defragging your hard drive by either using Windows inbuilt defragmenting tool (Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter and select all hard drives in your computer) or download an alternative defragmenter. Both will do the job just as well, but sometimes the alternative ones you can download do the job faster than Window's inbuilt one (due to the fact that Window's inbuilt one is a little outdated compared to the newer alternative versions). However both will do the job as good as each other (or should).

Try not to run too many programs in the system tray that you don't need (bottom right hand corner of your screen). Close any you don't need and disable those that aren't needed in their settings or use a tool like Advanced Uninstaller from www.downloads.com.
