RE: John Lennon 1940-1980
The Beatles are the greatest and most popular band ever. As well as the most prolific. They invented pop music by themselves. John Lennon was such an integral part of that, an off the cuff remark by Lennon himself once went along the lines that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus. It's not far from the truth. Lennon was part of that. They started the great Abbey Road Studios and when the band split every single member managed a solo number one hit. Imagine, Woman, Happy Xmas (War is Over), Give Peace a Chance, Instant Karma!, (Just Like) Starting Over, Nobody Told Me; these are notable solo songs. I don't need to repeat the list of Beatles hits, do I? A great man, a great songwriter, a great mind, a genius, a sad loss. Whilst I may not have agreed with his political stance on some things, nor his infatuation with Yoko Ono who was behind the destruction of the Beatles, he was still one of the most influential contributors to music ever. Much respect for him, and the Beatles.
