O.P. Old User Still on my Messenger
Hello, I hope someone can help me out.

I recently bought a computer from a friend of mine and logged into messenger with my own email and password. I have my own contacts and everything works fine except every once and awhile I'll get people logging in who aren't even on my contact list. Sometimes my friend's little daughter comes on and thinks I'm her Dad. LOL. It's very strange. I called him and he said he can't see me from his messenger at all but it seems his friends see me as him on messenger. And now I'm trying to add new contacts and that won't even work. I'm lost.
I uninstalled messenger and reinstalled it and it's doing the same thing. Is there something I need to delete elsewhere that I may have missed?

Thanks for any Help,
Mark.

Windows messenger could be running in the background..

Start -> All Programs -> Windows Mesenger

then

Tools -> Untick the box titled "Automatically run on startup"

RE: Old User Still on my Messenger
If Messenger is logging on as his account, you will need to remove it from your Managed Networked Passports.
Assuming you are running Windows XP you can do this by clicking Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > User Accounts (Again).

In the User Accounts window, click your appropriate User Name and then in the top right hand corner within the border under related tasks should be "Manage my Network Passwords".
Click this...A new window should pop-up, if your friends account is listed here. Delete it, it shall remove it from your stored list. Also...There might be one that is called something along the lines of "*Passport" (Passport with some symbols). Delete this also, this is the automatic login account. If you have set your account to automatically login, delete the "Passport" account anyways, once back into messenger you can tick "Remember my login" if you desire to.

I think this should stop your friends account from logging in
(I think thats what was happening, sorry if it wasn't)
If Stigmata's idea doesn't work, try this as a back-up.
