Dear Plugin Makers,

A fellow Hungarian asked me to ask you whether a plugin exists that can change the Messenger Personal Message periodically, according to a preset list or some kind of rules. I looked through the downloadable plugins, but found none.
Any chance of a similar plugin existing, or in development?

It shouldn't be too hard to do actually, since there's plenty of info about PSMs over at Fanatic. It's just no-one's thought of it before it seems.

There is no way to change your PM, only your Current Media.

The new messenger plus! live will have something called scripts. They can be used to add functionality to your messenger ... in a wee bit different, and easier if you ask me, way. I think there is a script written for this purpose already if im not mistaken

wow, great idea... forgot about them completely. I'll check out scripts on my own copy of Plus! Live. This won't make the guy any happier, but there will be one more person eagerly awaiting its release.

define "according to a preset list of rules"...
As this can mean anything, and is way too vague for developers do make something...

- Must it change at certain Messenger events?
- Must it change at certain Plus! events?
- Must it change at certain Windows events?
- Must it change according to stuff on the internet?
- Must it change at a given time-interval?
- Must it change at certain time/dates?
- etc... etc...

And together with all these things, there is also no clear picture to what it must change:
- current time/date?
- time/date countdown?
- nickname?
- predifined texts?
- texts read from files?
- text read from the net?
- etc...

True, true.

I had something simple in my mind, like having a predefined list of texts, and the plugin simply moves to the next text at some intervals, like 10sec.
This is crude, but allows for virtually anything, if someone wants to implement a counter he can set up the list properly, if he wants a scrolling text that also can be done with a manually crafted list, and of course it can be used to display generic stuff like quotes.
