RE: [idea] Custom display Pictures
requires modding the executable of Messenger. This is not only illegal, but is also not an easy job to do it properly (with a plugin)...

RE: [idea] Custom display Pictures
why not use something like picture-in-picture like on my TV. you could have a chosen DP with the persons real one in a little square in the corner. or vise versa

RE: [idea] Custom display Pictures
Hi all,
Any updates on whether this is possible...?
I am sort of forced into using MSN Messenger as I know so many other people that use it, but don't like it's default behaviour.
I would like to show display pictures for my contacts (I currently leave them off as you have no control over them), but only sensible ones! Many of my contacts use pictures of themselves or something personally identifiable to them - great! I don't however appreciate offensive or even pointless display pictures. One of my contacts insists on using pictures of random footballers as her display pic! Why? "coz their fit", she says. Well... great - but I tend to disagree! I do not wish to have my contact list cluttered with stupid pictures - in this case I'd like to override her chosen picture for one of her face (that I have).
In my opinion, MSN Messenger would be a great tool IF you could apply contact pic settings per user. I imagine options of "Always use contacts chosen display pic"; "Always override contacts chosen display pic with my own" or "Override contacts display pic with my own (until contact changes their display pic)".
I did a search on this subject and found nothing recent. I notice a Plus! API exists... anyone know if the custom pic changer would be possible using the API or is it a more 'involved' change?
Cheers.

RE: [idea] Custom display Pictures
Nothing has been changed since this thread was created (and even before that as this wasn't the first thread about this). In other words, it is not possible.
If you want it to be possible I'd suggest to tell the developpers of MSN Messenger about this instead.
