O.P. Nicknames For Contacts
Home come there is a limit for the number of characters you can insert when you're adding a nickname for your contact?

RE: Nicknames For Contacts
Are you talking about the limit that WLM puts on the nicknames of 40 characters or are you talking about MP! 3.xx ? Please be more specific so we can understand what you are talking about.

So it's WLM's fault huh? Then how come they allow your ordinary name to be longer then that?

RE: Nicknames For Contacts
Messenger Plus! Live does not deal with contacts names or nicknames at all, only Messenger Plus! 3.xx (and possibly before) did. If you notice with all of the boxes that you can assign a name or nickname to your contact with WLM you can only use 40 characters. You will have to ask someone from microsot why they chose this but my guess is space and bandwidth.

You're making up bullshit, dude, Messenger Plus! Live does so deal with the nicknames, cos that nickname feature wasn't there when I first installed WLM.

This function has been removed because Windows Live Messenger has the same functionality. If Microsoft doesn't improve the function, you might see it back in a newer version!
But.. Microsoft's function saves the data on the server, allowing you to sign in whereever you are (as long as you're using WLM) and still having the names.. So yes, it's a task to re-add the names, but it's worth it
That can be found here.

The nickname feature has been in WLM since a late beta. So markee is correct. All Plus! Live allows is the adding of format tags.

Is Leah, one of the main people who developed WLM and a blogger on the official WLM blow also making up bullshit? See here, if you are blind as well as arogant, it is one of the first features listed.

I have been using Windows Live Messenger since the first beta leaked onto the Internet many months ago. During that time, I have explored every corner of every build of the client, and as such I know full well what the features are, and how to use them.
So don't you even dare tell me I'm making it up. I know far more about Messenger than you ever will.
