go Plus -> Preferences -> Messenger -> "Allow me to..." Should be ticked and then click on OK...then click on the windows Live Messenger Icon on your desktop as many times as you like. If you don't see it on your desktop, go Start -> All programs -> Windows Live Messenger
Basically that's what I say on IRC and works everytime, provided your using windows live messenger and messenger plus! live.
