I don't know the reason of this, that is why I'm here anyway. My contact's display name with the codes is:

[b]*unicef[c=4]ronal[/c=7][c=8]dinho[/c=9][c=39]  zeki[/c][/b]

And his appearance on Messenger windows:



As far as I know, this weird appearance is only on the Conversation window. I copied my contact's nickname as my nickname, and I'm appeared to my contacts with this same weird nickname in their chat windows with me. Feel free to copy that code and wait for your contacts' question about this weirdness

Tested on WLM 85. and 8.1

Change your messenger colour and see them magically reappear.

The 'r' is in the middle of the gap yet there is no 'r' in that position in the nickname - it doesn't seem to be a problem related to the colour of the conversation window (unless you mean that this is some sort of known bug).

The text is getting drawn wrong.
I'm quite sure it has to do with the smiley. There's a huge space after smiley, that's not there on the real name. The "R" isn't getting coloured, and the rest of the sentence is invisible.

The smiley length could be hard coded to be less than 4 characters, but why does it only happen in the conversation title?

What would happen if you change from "*unicef" to "*one"?

I was mentioning the colour because as you can see there's a gradient used which is similar to the background colour and it shows up fine everywhere else.

Edit: found the culprit, it's the [b] in front of the emoticon...no problem when placed directly behind the emote... testing some more....

Edit2: Affected IM codes: *red+u, *mssoc, *sierra, *komen, *unicef
No problem with: *bgca, *naf, *9mil, *help

Conclusion:
All I'M codes with more than 4 letters are affected...and only when you place [b] in front of the code, directly after is no problem with any of the I'M codes.

The odd thing is that it only happens in the conversation title. My guess would be that it's because that's the only transparent richedit (rest has white backgrounds).

Yes, it may sound stupid but normal texts at the very beginning of a nickname prevents all some formatting on infobar. In other words, if the first formatting tag in a nickname comes after a normal text in the name, then infobar doesn't show some types of formatting on the name in the infobar of convo windows when contacts are offline. For details visit that thread.

That is why I requested from that contact to move that "[b]" tag in front of the emoticon because I thought it will fix the problem. But that made everything worse, though infobar showed his name correct after the change.

Yesterday, that contact came online and he changed his nickname for four times according to my requests. You can see what he did in his Contact Information window in the attachment. For all of them [b] tag is in the front of everything, and all the same formatting on his name still exists like the first case (even if you can't see them in the picture) and for all of them everything was fine. Thanks again for your tests.

Edit: I think it mustn't be only I'M emoticons with more than 4 letters, I think it must be wrong with emoticons which have more than 4 letters, though I thinkk we don't have any other emote with more than 4 letters like I'M ones.
