follow the instructions given in this post:

Make sure you follow the instructions literally and carefully.
For example, this means a
space between the /nick2 command and the parameters of that command (which is your (new) screenname):
/nick2 ThisIsMyScreenname <CTRL+K>4
note the space after /nick2
<CTRL+K> is a keycombination you need todo, which is pressing and holding the 'CTRL' key, while pressing the 'K' key.
And since you must use a command in a conversation window for what you want (you can not do it in any other way), you must make sure commands are enabled in Messenger Plus!. Though, they should be as they are enabled by default. But make sure they are:
Plus! > Preferences > Conversations > Main > Enable commands
And although this doesn't have something todo with the error message you're getting, make also sure IRC Style format codes are enabled:
Plus! > Preferences > Customize > Main > Enable text formatting shortcuts > Use IRC style format codes.

ahmetgns, please don't suggest things when you didn't tested things or don't understand the problem.
The command /name has got nothing todo with this. Also WLM's options screen has got absolutely nothing todo with this, neither will it be a solution. Also suggesting to use the internal format codes of plus
(dot $ 4) is wrong; people should never use those internal codes, they should use either BBCode formatting codes or the IRC style codes.
