You wouldn't. And we don't because it's not spyware that Plus installs, its ADWARE. It only displays ads, it doesn't send out any info about your activity. Secondly, a program that asks me if I want to install adware to support it and then gives me an option to not install it, I would trust more than one that doesn't.

Why would they include it if they are actually decent software makers?
How else would the author make money?

And the people who make Gimp, how do they make money?
They don't. GIMP is an open source software developed by a community. The code can contributed by hundreds of people. And they do it as a hobby, Where as Plus only has 1 developer that does it for a living. Open source is good and all, but even the people who contribute to OSS have jobs and get paid for writing some other code.

It may be 10 times the effort, but you also have 100 times the labour. Ask your friend to create a program like GIMP all by himself, then ask him to not only distribute it for free, but also not receive any income for producing, maintaining and updating his software as his daily job.

The people who make GIMP spend 20 times the amount of effort into a piece of software that takes tons of R&D, and these people try to include spyware?[/i]
First, it's not "these people", it's this person. Secondly, if Plus didn't take effort to make, it wouldn't be one of a kind. There would be hundreds of programs that would do what Plus does, but there aren't. And GIMP may take 20 times more effort and R&D, but it isn't maintained by 1 developer.
You're friend is comparing completely different things.
