O.P. Is MP!L safe?
OK, some of you may find my question silly or whatever but I'm being serious.
When I ran some ad-ware software not long ago Messenger Plus came up as a result in the unsafe list, and it said something about MP!L being a security risk or something. I would love to tell you which one of the software's it was but I cannot honestly remember, I think it might have been either 'SpyDoctor' or 'SpyBot - Search and Destroy' ...either way, the results have scared me and I would like some reassurance that MP!L is in fact safe? (like I once thought) ...and any explanations as to why the software picked MP!L up?

RE: Is MP!L safe?
Messenger Plus! Live is 100% safe. It's probably getting picked up because it includes an optional sponsor which dispays non-malicious pop-up adverts on the computer, should the user select to install it.
Though to summarise, it's totally safe to use

if you don't install the sponsor, it is totally safe. And, yeah... tons of anti-viruses and anti-spywares give "fake-positives", Windows-defender, for example, used to block plus! install becuase it "though" it was spyware.
In another words... don't worry! If you don't install the sponsor, it will be only fake-positives

Even if the user does install the sponsor, plus remains perfectly safe. The only difference is there will be ads that show up here and there. This is Patchou's only form of revenue, so I'm sure he wouldn't include something that is not safe.
The future holds bright things in it\\\'s path, but only time will tell what they are and where they come from.

ok, but you did the opposite though... You said Plus! is safe if you don't install the sponsor. Which can easly be read that Plus! is not safe if you install the sponsor.... which isn't true...
Just a manner of how you say things.

absolutely true and understandable, but still... with issues like this you can't be carefull enough... (also considering that everything what needed to be said was already said in the first reply by djdannyp)...
