I was downloading the beta of WLM and i noticed something in ff. It was download from the microsoft download section that is here.

In ff it says it's from msghelp.net.

Should it not be download.microsoft.com?

It's most likely the site that you downloaded it from rather than thesite you downloadede it from... Erm, wait... what?

I mean it's most likely just gonna show the site where you initiated the download rather than the server it's hosted on. It's better in respect of you know what site you got the download from, but not so good in terms of security if you don't bother to check the location of the download in the status bar as you could linked to www.naughty.com/setup.exe while the download manager still says Google

Seems like it's the site where the link you clicked is, and not the site the file is hosted.

Exactly, if you right click > "Go to download page" it will.. well, go to the download page.
But I agree, it seems a bit of an odd thing to do.

I tried it, and Firefox showed microsoft.com.

And yes, I'm using Firefox 3.0.1.

As you can see im on vista so looks like I AM DOOMED WITH VISTA!!

Happens on XP too
