O.P. Shocked  Using a CF card as an internal PC hard drive
I just read it can be done for notebooks using this adaptor:
http://www.addonics.com/products/flash_memory_reader/ad44midecf.asp

Has anyone tried it? Is it stable? Is there something similar for PC's? Thanks

Can you get one big enough to be a practical size for a hard drive?  Surely the read/write speed will suffer?

I'm guessing there's something similar for PCs as I'm sure you can connect a laptop sized hard drive up to a PC (with another adapter probably)
